You’ll find items and deals you won’t find at other home repair stores. When you shop or donate at a ReStore, you are automatically supporting not only your local store, but also the Habitat mission worldwide. Click here for other ways you can support Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles. We need your support to create more access to affordable housing. Through your purchases, generous donation of items, and volunteering, we can come together to build a legacy of strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter here in the Charlotte region.

What building materials can you find at your local Habitat ReStore?

If you’d like to change the life of a family in our community, you can do so in a number of ways. Many businesses choose the Charlotte Region ReStores when looking to donate large amounts of furniture and office equipment before a move or remodel or when “sunsetting” an inventory of goods.

Yes, most Habitat ReStores offer pickup of furniture donations, as well as other large items like appliances and building materials. In addition to used items, many stores carry new surplus building materials donated by businesses in your community and around the country. Not your everyday building supply stores, Habitat for Humanity ReStores accept and sell a wide variety of new and used building materials.

We can also provide you with a hard copy receipt upon request. Legally, Habitat cannot appraise your donation(s), so all donors must fill out an estimated value for their donation(s) on the receipt. Please keep in mind that you are required by law to fill out IRS Form 8283 for any donation you value at $500 or more. Any donation with a total value of $5,000 or more must also be professionally appraised. Partner Families are partners with us throughout the whole process from contributing sweat equity hours helping to build their home to making their monthly mortgage payment. Housing costs in Charlotte have outpaced wage growth, making it challenging for many working individuals and families to find affordable places to live.

What happens with my donation? Does it go into a home built by Habitat?

Since launching the Cars for Homes national vehicle donation program in 2005, Habitat for Humanity has accepted over 100,000 vehicles for reselling or recycling, raising more than $30 million in the last 5 years alone. The program has raised funds for Habitat Charlotte Region to partner with local families to build safe, stable, and affordable homes. We make it fast and easy to donate a vehicle, and you may qualify for a tax deduction.

As one of the fastest-growing cities in America, Charlotte has seen a surge in population, causing housing prices to rise significantly. Except for the three-year COVID hiatus, it has been HabitatInternational’s most high-profile event every year since. You don’t have to swing a hammer to make a difference! Habitat Charlotte Region has many volunteer opportunities available through the Charlotte Region ReStores. As part of their willingness to partner, Habitat’s homebuyers invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, called sweat equity, working alongside volunteers and other Habitat homeowners.

We welcome everyone, with or without experience, to volunteer in construction, ReStores and other areas. At the Charlotte Region ReStores and Julia’s Café & Books, we have many opportunities for individuals or groups, including cashier, sales floor, merchandise processing and more!
